![]() In the following example, I found the prompt effectiveness was dramatically improved by giving an example of the correct syntax copied directly fro the documentation. We can render the script in a mermaid.js previewer: The final step is to enjoy the cup of tea. After the desired strength of tea is reached, milk and sugar can be added to taste. The tea is then steeped for a few minutes to allow the flavor to infuse into the water. Once the water is boiling, a tea bag is added to the hot water. The process for making a cup of tea starts by boiling water in a kettle or pot. Generate a flowchart using valid mermaid.js syntax that shows the process for making a cup of tea. The initial prompt for each new diagram type is started in a new thread. In most cases, I naively accept them and use them as the basis of the the nxt prompt. In this post, as well as demonstrating the range of diagram script types that can be generated, I also hope to hint at how we can use ChatGPT as part of an iteractive visual thinking process, getting ChatGPT to generate base diagrams and then using further prompts to iterate on them.Īs with my previous “chats”, I am not really looking to deeply at the correctness of the generated responses. So if it can generate code, can it also generate diagrams from descriptions by mapping the description onto a text based diagramming package language format? I’ve already posted a couple of demos showing that it can, but here’s a more general post on the topic. Automated layout engines, and style theming potentally give you a lot of flexibility in how the rendered diagram looks, although custom theming tends not to be explicitly offered in most of the diagramming packages of which I am aware.Īs a text generation engine, the ability of ChatGPT to generate code is well known. ![]() To me it seems like an obvious thing to do: it makes for more maintainable assets, and it can speed up iteration cycles if you are trying to get a the logicial, relational elements of the diagram right. For years and years now I’ve tried to argue the case for using tools that will generate diagrams from text and never really met with much success. ![]()

I searched this expecting to find some reference to Control but I never really did. I was especially hopeful during a section of the game where you have an opportunity to examine a series of white boards covered in notes by the time traveling antagonist that lists major world events between 2000 - 2018 along with his plans to exploit or respond to them. This is literally it, I had hoped there might be more, at least just small references as development for both games must have overlapped and Sam Lake (certainly why we have so many water themes) was so important to both efforts. "It takes one to three days to get back to normal." ![]() "When you stop using the spray, the vessels in your nose that have been held in check begin to swell, making you feel congested," says pharmacist Beverly Schaefer, co-owner of Katterman's Pharmacy in Seattle. When used for a longer period of time, you could face rebound congestionshort-term, severe congestion as the medication effect wears off. If you experience insomnia, dizziness, weakness, tremor or an irregular heartbeat contact your doctor right away.Īlso, nasal sprays are usually only recommended for a maximum of three days' use. (This is less apt to happen if you keep your head upright.)īecause of that possibility, those who have enlarged prostate, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, or thyroid disease should check with their doctor or pharmacist before using nasal sprays at all because all decongestants, including sprays, can worsen these conditions. Sprays containing oxymetazoline, such as Afrin, Dristan, or Vicks Sinex, can relieve congestion for up to 12 hours, while sprays containing phenylephrine, like Neo-Synephrine, last up to four hours.Īt recommended doses, they're usually not absorbed into the bloodstream the way that oral medications are, but occasionally they cansay, if you took more than the recommended dose, or you tilted your head back while spraying your nostrils allowing some of the spray to enter your throat. The active ingredient works within minutes to shrink swollen blood vessels in your nasal passages, helping you breathe more easily. (If congestion is caused by allergies, your best, first bet is an over-the-counter antihistamine.) But when suffering from a cold, it may be a good idea to use a spray for the first few days, and then switch to an oral decongestant, if it's still needed. You don't need toand, if you do take both, you might get an overload of decongestant. There is probably no need to take them at the same time, say our pharmacist consultants. With 1 week supply you get 7 sets, 4 week supply you get 28 sets, and 12 week supply you get 84 sets. When I use an over-the-counter decongestant nasal spray, like Afrin, can I also take decongestant pills? You can also join in the fun with attacks of your own, too, and there are different ones to pick from at the start of a run. You're a king riding around on your horse, leading your troops into battle (commanding them to stand in certain spots if you wish). Part of that, I think, also comes down to the fact that you're not some invisible godlike figure here. It scratches exactly the right cluster of tactical, puzzley brain cells to make it feel devilishly moreish. After all, where does the strategy come in if the game funnels you down a fixed and specific route each time? But that's precisely why Thronefall is so damn brilliant, because when enemies appear from different angles of attack every night (thankfully marked up on your map in advance), it scratches exactly the right cluster of tactical, puzzley brain cells to make it feel devilishly moreish. Of course, with its fixed maps and fixed building nodes, you might think that pairing couldn't possibly be compatible with a good fun time. Working out what to spend your money on is really the only thing you have to consider here. Some nights have single waves of enemies to defend against, but others hit you with multiple enemy types all at the same time, often from different directions. As you upgrade your castle with said money, you can also upgrade these buildings even further, eventually unlocking towers that pour vats of boiling oil at regular intervals, for instance, or barracks with three squads of knights rather than just one. Certain points might let you build watch towers, for example, that can fire arrows at incoming enemies, while others might let you build fields and windmills to generate even more money. Once you've built your castle, little nodes will tell you where all the other buildings can go, and you can ride up to them on your cute, tiny horse (or press a button) to see what it is and how much it costs. ![]() The truly neat thing about Thronefall, though, is that each construction point is fixed on the map from the beginning. ![]() Houses give you some nominal offering to your coffers, for example, but later levels also have gold mines to exploit, or fishing ports you can construct that bring back a steadier and growing stream of income over successive days. You'll earn a handful of cash after every night survived - assuming the hordes haven't destroyed all of the buildings that produce it, of course - and the key to success is using it to build the best possible defences for your castle. Unlike some of its rivals, however, you can call the night forward at any time you like by holding down space bar, giving you ample time to decide your next move and where best to spend your small pot of gold coins. Like other citybuilding tower defence hybrids, Thronefall is structured around a safe, build during the day cycle, and murderous terrors you'll need to pick off during the night. The points of construction may be fixed, but the freedom to kit out your settlement as you see fit has its own kind of strategy to it. It's only just come out in early access today, but I've been having a great time with a pre-release build of it, and can feel it sinking its claws into me with every attempt at its final level. Thronefall is a more minimalist take on the citybuilder tower defender, but while its bright colours might look like the distant cousin of a Townscaper toybox (it is, after all, made by the same dev wot did the equally charming Islanders), this deadly little thing is absolutely genius. It's the same feeling I got from the blocky delights of Diplomacy Is Not An Option and the deckbuilding, comic-book stylings of ORX, too, but now there's a new kid that's ridden into town who I think might be the king of the lot. The grimdark horrors of Age Of Darkness: Final Stand might be a bit too hard as nails for my personal liking, but there's something about the act of building up my little settlements and defending them against ever-larger nightly hordes that just unlocks something in my brain that says, 'Yes, more of this, please'. ![]() I don't know about you, but I've been immensely enjoying the seeming renaissance of tower defence citybuilding games recently. ![]() ![]() ![]() But you can really start off with any gear and upgrade as you go. And when you invest in higher quality field recorders, microphones, and AD/DA converts you will really start getting top-notch impulse responses. Giving you a choice of different 'real' spaces to use in your recording. Now you can build up a collection of high quality impulse responses for the Convolution Reverb. So I could use this impulse response if I wanted a small room with a hard surfaces sound. It's a small to medium sized room with tiled floors. I set up the speaker and microphone in my lounge. On the audio track with the IR Measurement Tool set it to Monitor Mode to In, and Record Arm the track. Make sure you have se tup your Audio Input Device in Ableton so that it will record in the audio signal. Now the place the microphone somewhere near to the speaker so that it can pick up the signal of the speaker when it sends out the sweeping sine wave. You can even record multiple times with the speaker set up in different locations. Clap your hands and hear the reflections and decide where you think is best. Walk around the room and use your ears to pick up where you think the best spot is. But you can really set them up anywhere you like. Try setup the speaker(s) in the middle of the room. A good quality condenser or field recording microphone is ideal, but any microphone that picks up a good signal will work. You'll need a speaker (for a mono file), or two (for stereo) to send out the sine wave, and you'll need a microphone to pick up the audio sine sweep signal. This tool will measure the space and then you can save out the impulse as an audio file. The device can be located in Max for Live > Max Audio Effect. This means that you will need to have the Ableton Suite with Max For Live. The IR Measurement Tool is a Max device that can be used to create your own IRs, which you can then pull into the Convolution Reverb. ![]() Step 1 – Where to Find the IR Measurement Tool Capturing the room this way gives you a much more accurate impulse response of the room. The sine wave uses an exponential sweep of the audio spectrum - going through all the frequencies in the audio range. ![]() This measures the room by sending out a sweeping sine wave through a speaker. You record an audio file that captures the initial transient of the click, and this audio file can be pulled into the Convolution Reverb.Ī better way is to use the included IR Measurement Tool. This is the transient method to recording impulse responses. I went into a big room, and simply recorded the sound of myself clicking. In my previous article on Ableton's Convolution Reverb I gave a very rough example on how to create an impulse response. ![]() |
